Strategy[edit | edit source]

Overgrowth is an amazing card for druid when it lacks of efficient mana-generating cards. The fastest scenario can be when Overgrowth is played on turn 4 or sooner with the help of Innervate and The Coin, while Nourish's Rampant Growth can only be played much later due to it costing 6 mana.

Most of the time, Overgrowth should be played as soon as possible, ideally when you have 4-7 Mana Crystals so that you have extra mana to play high-cost cards much earlier. However, by spending 4 mana, your opponent is likely to threaten and attack your hero to force you to spend mana for board control instead of gaining tempo. It's best to play this only if you are not losing tempo and already have cards with enough costs (either big minions or board clears) to play immediately next turn.

Proof That 1 Equals 0

Like most mana-growth cards, Overgrowth has excellent synergy with cards that require the player to have specific Mana Crystals, like Bogbeam and Ironbark. The sooner you play Overgrowth, the sooner their conditions are fufilled, giving you more flexibility. In some specific scenarios, if you are losing board when you have 5 Mana Crystals, you can use Overgrowth to immediately use Bogbeam and Ironbark to ease the opponent's threat and gain the board control back.

It is not the best idea to play Overgrowth when you already have 8 and 9 Mana Crystals, since you won't gain much extra mana after reaching 10-permanent Mana Crystal. You may try to save it later and use it as a card draw. Ant desk.
